Employment Development Department (EDD)
The EDD has released its forecast for the 2024 Disability Insurance (DI) Fund. The DI fund provides State Disability Insurance (SDI) and Paid Family Leave (PFL) benefits for California employees. The 2024 employee contribution rate is projected to increase from 0.9% to 1.1%, the maximum weekly benefit is projected to increase from $1,620 to $1,698 and the taxable wage ceiling, currently $153,164, will be removed (per SB 951). The ESD has released the 2024 maximum weekly benefit amount for the Paid Family and Medical Leave program. The amount is increasing from $1,427 to $1,456.
